About: Coastal Retreats is an atmospheric collection of original oil paintings by Cambridgeshire based artist, Cheryl Liston. Painting is my way of escaping the busy and hectic reality of day to day life. I love the freedom that painting with oils gives me, allowing my work to be more abstract and expressive. I have a particular love of painting the sea and all things coastal, theres something so uplifting about the vastness of the skyline sitting over the ocean. I also find inspiration in the countryside of Cambridgeshire, where I live. The beauty of the landscape changing, sunrises and sunsets, in particular, moody skies. I capture these atmospheric elements in my paintings by embracing colour, light and tone.

Artist Info: Cheryl Liston is a self taught artist, originally specialising in watercolours until 2019 when she decided to take on a new challenge by working with oil paint. Cheryl is a member of Cambridge Open Studios and regularly exhibits her work in art fairs and exhibitions.
